God's Outreach | Madison Backpack Club

The “Madison Backpack Club” program, began last year in the Madison County Schools. Backpacks will be dropped off at the beginning of the school year and a letter will be sent home introducing the families to the program and getting their signature if they wish to participate. Each backpack could include breakfast, lunch and dinner for Saturday and Sunday with some items like toaster pastry, granola bars, Ramon noodles, potted meat, cheese crackers, oatmeal packet, microwavable mac-n-cheese or soup. The children that participate will be able to pick up their backpack on the way to the bus on Friday afternoon and return it on Monday. The Backpack Club was initiated during the school year last year and was very successful at the Glenn Marshall and Kirksville schools. Our hope is to expand the program to all elementary schools this upcoming school year, feeding the most needy children..
