About God's Outreach
GOD’S OUTREACH is a non-profit organization that tangibly expresses its love and concern for people needing help with food assistance. Since 2001 we have operated solely on donations; donations from individuals, churches, and local businesses of Madison County along with a faithful core of volunteers. Each month GOD’S OUTREACH assists over 900 households with food including the elderly and hut-ins. In 2006 we distributed over 458,000 pounds of food to 9,600 families in Madison County with a
approximate retail value of $682,000. The majority of our food is acquired from God’s Pantry in Lexington where we purchase food for pennies on the dollar. GOD’S OUTREACH supplies supplemental food. A family can come for food once a month; that amount of food is not intended to last the entire month, but to assist those in need through a difficult time.
Our Volunteers strive to form mutually respectful relationships and work at getting to know the people who come month after month. Talking with some of them has given the opportunity to find out that an elderly man had been a college professor and
was still quite sharp, despite his disheveled appearance. Hard times is “no respect of persons”. We are located at 210 Geri Lane and our hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to Noon.
